Shannon Richardson, Images for Critique, 4/8/2013

I noticed that many of the landscape portraits by Raymond Meeks were not very shop.  They sorta looked like the shutter speed was left open for a lengthy period of time OR as if the subject was moving while taking the pictures.  I felt I took really good landscape pictures, but after reviewing the artists images, I felt that mine were not similar so I went back out to take more.  I adjusted the shutter speed and basically took several shots while spinning around at various speeds.  I think if the above image were in black and white or had some sort of filter effect/tone added, that they would resemble some of his landscape portraits.
I chose this as my portrait because I felt it "gave" more, as an image.  When I look at this image I feel that it forces the reader to look at the facial expressions and think about what is or isn't being said or done.  This photo seems like a happy photo.  One where the subject is enjoying himself or thinking/ speaking about something he enjoys.  The portraits that Raymond Meeks posted had a similar effect on me.  I felt that most of his portraits had a nostalgic tone and I feel this one does too.
