My top photo was taken while my husband was driving through our neighborhood. I tried holding the camera still, focusing on one area while moving, moving my hand with the camera, changing F stops, taking pictures at different speeds, etc. This one is a bit underexposed but I liked the light being concentrated through the top tree line and felt it was the best example of Raymond Meeks' 'blurred trees' photos. With as many pictures I took of trees, I still could not capture the same effect he did.
My second image is also a bit underexposed, but I love the way my grandson is having a blast running from his Mom. The kite on the ground means nothing to him, but the chance to run recklessly with no worries shows in his face. I was happy with the focus and choice of depth of field and think I did a fair job of utilizing the available light in the same manner Mr. Meeks did with his two women running in the field photo. The element of open space in the background and sky also illustrates a sense of freedom/innocence.
I really had fun taking these pictures and even enjoyed a picnic on a beautiful day filled with 'real family' pictures.
