Shannon Richardson, Artist Post, 4/6/2013
The artist for this week's artist post is Raymond Meeks. I chose the portrait above because it looks like a "happy" photo. I see two women that appear to be frolicking in the field, just enjoying themselves. This photo reminds me of childhood. They look care free and are playing in an open field, possibly watching/chasing geese. I also love how he captured them in motion. The choice he made to print/capture the photo in black and white gives the photo a more aged feeling.
I chose this photo because I found it to be the most interesting of the landscape photo. The dark clouds and leaves in the air tells me that there is a storm. The leaves mid air and the motion blur from the bush shows that it is extremely windy. This photo makes me think of sudden chaos. It makes me think of how we look at things as being calm and serene and how that can suddenly change.
