Alex Clark, 4/14/13, Images for Critique

Taking 250 pictures for this week was delightful.  I primarily took photographs from the inside and the outside of my home.  The three images were inspired by the macro images taken by a photographer named Mike Moats.  The first image was inspired by Moats's photography of flowers and is a close-up of a flower that was given to my Mom around Valentine's day.  The flower possesses a purple color with some white and pink around the stamen area.  As a result of the flower being primarily purple, the image may symbolize richness, prosperity, and a person who tends to possess the trait of generosity.

The second image is a close-up of a glass vase that was inspired by Moats's macro images of shells with spiral shapes.  The vase does not seem to contain anything and is reflecting certain items that are behind it and in the front.  Furthermore, light seems to be coming from the left side of the vase.  The third photograph is a close-up of a dogwood flower from a dogwood tree.  This image was inspired by Mike Moats's close-ups of flowers.  In addition, the dogwood flower possesses white petals, yellow and green stamen, and a green stem.  This image could symbolize peace, purity, and sincerity.  Unlike Moats's image of white flowers, this photograph is in focus, which may also symbolize that peace, sincerity, and purity is currently present within something.
