This week I found Ian Taylor. He is a photographer who was born in the UK, raised in Canada and spent many years living in Southeast Asia. He did not start out as a photographer and had no formal training when he started taking pictures. He worked for a newspaper in Cambodia and learned about taking pictures from the photographers at work. He travels extensively and documents people with his camera.
The first picture is of an elderly woman in Cambodia. Mr. Taylor says he isn't good at snapping pictures on the fly. He starts conversations with people on the streets and asks their permission for a shot or two. He likes to shoot pictures of people. The different patterns in this shot from the lines in the woman's face, her clothes and her headdress make this a special picture.
I love the second picture a lot. Can't you just feel the water moving? The little girl is caught in a typical little person moment, and the focus is definitely on her, but the water and her body position make this picture special.
