Cameron Gowen, 4/7/13, Images for Critique

For this weeks photos I decided to travel to some areas near Richmond that I hadn't been to before. Of course i was in search of some old buildings for a good landscape shot. I chose this picture because it was important to me. It shows history, mainly because most of these buildings were shut down and boarded up. It makes me wonder about the storys behind all the stores, how old they are, perhaps why they were shutdown, etc. I wanted to combine worshams style of photos with Meeks style of "2 solitudes". I took the photo while riding in a car with a friend trying to show the similar way Meeks photos are from his car.
I chose this photo for my portrait because it was definitely out of my usual comfort zone of shooting, I tried to sneak it, but caught this girl off guard and she noticed me so I snapped a quick picture before she could move out of the frame. I really like how much Worshams portraits in the outdoors with nature are, so it inspired me to get a good portrait like that, or as close to them as I could.. Luckily the girl didn't get mad, and I got a good shot!
