Susan Worsham created an interesting image of a woman's perception and desire for beauty in her daily life. The composition of a middle aged woman sitting on the ground in front of a wig shop in her work uniform illustrates the importance of image many women feel they must present.
The light is most prominent inside of the wig shop and the tired woman sits in a bit of a shadow below the display. This alone suggests the wig shop 'brightens' her day somehow.
Since she does look weary from a long days work, but somehow she has not one hair out of place, it seems that she takes a lot of pride in her appearance and by changing her look from time to time, it adds some much needed excitement to her life.

"Midlothian" 59/75 Midlothian, VA
I really like the way this picture shows a decaying, abandoned sign with life surrounding it. When I look at the rusted sign, it makes me wonder when the business went under, and question what goods had they dealt with?
In a simple way, the sunlight bathes the ancient sign, resurrecting the idea that it one day did indeed have life but with the passage of time it became dated and unnecessary. The vines and bushes are reclaiming the structure but it still offers some rustic beauty.
Ms. Worsham's play with light, textures and the natural colors take a relic in the state of decay and make it an interesting image to enjoy.
