Jeanette Wright, 04/06/13, Artist Post

Our artist this week was Raymond Meeks. These two pictures are from his collection "2 Solitudes". They were shot mostly in black and white, and some through car windows. The images with people in them remind me of pictures my father had of his family back in Kentucky, sort of poor white, coal mining town people. The lighting makes the pictures appear really old.

The landscapes are definitely like those shots you see in movies where people are lost and are trying to find their way. Shooting in black and white was immediately aging and gave the shots a smokey, shadowy appearance. Since the images could not be copied from Mr. Meeks personal website, I found them on a magazine website and "borrowed" them.
