The Gift of Summer Light
The artist that I chose this week is Diane Varner. On her website, she has a gallery entitled "Daily Walks" where I fell it is safe to assume that she is capturing these wonderful images while out and about on her daily strolls. The picture above was taken during the summertime as the sun was rising. I love how it is not your average "sunrise" photo. Aside from the light of the sun, the rest of the image is rather dark but the artist still manages to capture the amazing colors (...blues, greens, purplish greys/browns). The picture below is fascinating to me. I can honestly say that I have never seen an image where the artist has captured the breath of a bird. This pictures also gives the viewer hints about the location and time of day/year.

The Perched Pigeon
I like this picture because I know we usually don't see pigeons as one of the many beautiful birds. I usually associate pigeons with filth and city pollution. This picture shows colors in the pigeons feathers that make it look more appealing than the black, grey, and white flying rodents I am used to seeing.
