This week I selected Anonio Diaz, of Sevilla, Spain.
He is a self taught painter who has taken up photography only in the last few years. I stumbled upon his work completely by accident and was taken in by the sheer beauty and almost painting-like appearance of his photos.
His photo on the bottom, titled "Menu in Crisis Time" sucked me right in, as it is very reminiscent of my favorite painting, "Grace" by Eric Enstrom. It is a powerful, yet simple, and humbling reminder to always be thankful for what you have, no matter how little it may be.
I love how Mr. Diaz uses shadows, textures and light to make even a rotting lemon look enticing. There is such attention to every single detail in his images, I find myself spending a great deal of time looking at them.
For the second photo, I can imagine someone picking those peaches in the warm morning sun, the smell of them permeating the air and anticipating a bite filled with sweet juice. Maybe someone will even bake a pie?
The third photo I really adore, you can see the girls anticipation and trepidation with the fruit. He captured her emotion beautifully. She obviously is contemplating the safest way to get the fruit without being poked by the spines of the prickly fruit again.
After I reviewed his photos, it took a little bit of research to find a bio for him, since he does not appear to be a "famous artist". Luckily, I was able to find a bio and realized I really like this mans philosophy and motivation as it is something I can relate to. Simply put, there is beauty in everything, it just depends on how you look at it.
Of all my Artist Posts so far, he is my favorite.
