Amy McVaugh, 2.10.13, Images for Critique
I loved, loved, loved this assignment! Just two weeks ago, I couldn't have imagined being so much closer to producing the pictures I intend to. The top photo is a recreation of one I had attempted our first week of class. Having a better understanding of how light affects a subject makes it possible to alter the overall composition of a photo. The second photo was taken at the Chihuly exhibit. I wish I could post several of those pictures, I was so happy with the way they turned out. The third image I played with at the restaurant, Sticky Rice. It is a large mural on a brick wall with medium natural lighting. I liked the blue hue created when playing with the light balance and shutter speed. Even my husband had fun helping me pick various settings. Hopefully soon I will come to a "full understanding" of the settings and become proficient in creating images with intent on a consistent basis. *Edit-After posting my Images for Critique, I realized my photos may not seem to some eyes that I emmulated my Artist for the week, Jay Gould. Two of my images are taken indoors. However, the inspiration I took from Mr. Gould was that of light and darkness, energy and motion. It did not occur to me until later that I perhaps should have attempted to create the same images he did.
