Jill Treat, 2-17-13, Artist Post

This week for my artist post I decided to search for an artist that I would not normally be drawn to.  I came across a photographer named Eric Kim.  He refers to himself as a street photographer.  I really liked his bio and thought that he would be a good one to research.  As I was reading through his information I found it interesting how he defines street photography.  I thought that it meant take a picture of a building, landscape and objects from the street.  No, that isnt what he means it is simply of people.  It reminded me of the assignment we were given a few weeks ago.  Approach a stranger and take their photo.  This is still very uncomfortable for me and I am not sure I will ever be a person that enjoys taking photos of strangers.  However, I am intrigued by those that enjoy and are inspired by street photography.   He has several series of photos and the photos above are simply called "The City of Angles."  It appears that most of the photos are taken without permission.  I find the  expressions on their faces to be interesting.  Some do not seem very excited and others seem to have no idea they are being photographed.  It was nice to go outside of my normal box and see what others enjoy capturing.
