I think that when it comes to photography, every situation is different. There are so many different reasons to take certain photographs, there isn't just one distinct answer when trying to describe what makes a "good" portrait or landscape. I believe that good landscapes are made when the image quality high with great amounts of detail, as well as the image being visually accurate when compared to the actual scene being photographed. Good portraits are made the same way (high quality, great detail). I leave my answers broad because there are so many different circumstances for taking both landscapes and portraits.
