Artist Post, Harvey Johnson, 3/23/2013, Bryan Schutmaat

                                                                    Bryan Schutmaat

The Two favorite images I’ve selected from the collection by photographer Bryan Schutmaat titled “Grays The Mountain Sends”. They represent both a strong landscape and a strong portrait image. The landscape image is strong because of its shallow depth of field displaying a good foreground. It also contains proper lighting that creates the best possible viewing of the scene and a deep depth of field. These three components lead the eyes on a picture journey and that create a great landscape image.

A strong portrait contains the characteristics that are present with the image of a man by having proper lighting, mostly on the face and a shallow depth of field in order to show detailed texture. By having the camera set on portrait mode it blurs the background and decreases the chances of having negative attractions which result in an image with good composition.
