Harry O. Johnson Jr, 3/3/2013, Images for Critique







 The concept I selected was Historic Petersburg Va. This is is not my original concept due to the fact

that I ran out of ideas. The top photograph is a shot of Americas first predominately free Black

neighborhood. The second photo that was taken  is a picture of  Virginia State University. VSU was

the first university to allow free slaves an education in agriculture in this area. The third picture is a

picture of what is now Max way. Max way was once a Woolworth, where Sit-in protest were carried

out through out the 1960's civil rights movement. The fourth picture is what is now called the Civic

Center. It was once the Farmer's market where you could buy Slaves, fruits, vegetables, seeds for your

crop, and livestock. The Fifth picture is a Basketball Court where NBA great Moses Malone Learned

to play basketball. He was also the first person to ever be drafted out of high school to play in the NBA.
